How to Apply
Applicants must meet general graduate admission requirements in addition to the following program-specific requirements:
- General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are optional.
- Students who are missing some basic courses that would be appropriate for this program may be admitted provisionally and asked to complete additional undergraduate course work before being granted full admission to the graduate program.
Deadlines & Cost
Deadlines: January 1 (priority deadline for funding consideration) and April 1 (final) for fall; October 1 (priority deadline) or November 1 (final deadline) for spring.
Application Fee: The nonrefundable application fee is $75. UMass Boston alumni and current students that plan to complete degree requirements prior to graduate enrollment can submit the application without paying the application fee.

Graduation Criteria
Complete 30 credits from at least ten courses including three core courses, four required electives and three additional electives.
Capstone: Students may choose either an internship option or a thesis option. Each student prepares a written report on his or her research work and must also take an oral examination, which will not necessarily be limited to the topic of the report. The student must submit an outline of the report to his or her advising committee before taking the oral examination.
Statute of limitations: Six years.
