The UMass Bostons Music Minor provides you with a solid musical foundation while giving you an opportunity to pursue your passion.

In this program, you’ll hone your musical skills and talents and gain a deep understanding of the history, theories, and styles of music. You’ll also explore various musical genres and practices from all over the world. 

The Music Minor complements many different career paths, including music performance, education, therapy, composition, and arts management.

Take two additional music courses at the 200-level or higher.

Complete 18 credits from six courses, including two theory courses, two history courses, and two electives.

Pass/fail: No courses taken pass/fail may be applied toward the minor.
