Empowering Students for Success
The mission of Pre-collegiate and Educational Support Programs is to provide low-income and first generation students, students with disabilities and students who are underrepresented in graduate education with the skills, knowledge, and motivation to successfully pursue post-secondary and post-baccalaureate education. This mission is achieved through programs that are designed to address a range of learning needs and serve pre-collegiate students and UMass Boston undergraduates.
Early College
The Early College program prepares high school students for college success. Students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education can begin their college journey through the Early College program at UMass Boston. Early College integrates students into the university environment, where they complete college-level coursework, explore a variety of career opportunities, and utilize UMass Boston resources, both in their high school and on campus. By earning course credits that can be transferred to any university in the MassTransfer Block, students reduce the time and cost of earning a degree. The program’s wraparound support (including advising and tutoring) also helps students stay on track and complete their studies.
