BEACON was designed as an ongoing panel study, in which individuals were surveyed repeatedly on their smartphones or computers so that changes in sentiments and situations can be identified.  A probability-based sampling design allowed for representation of Boston’s residents as a whole as well as in each of its 25 neighborhoods.
