UMass Boston Partners with TeamSmile to Host Free, Fun Dental Program for Kids

The national nonprofit TeamSmile is hosting a free dental education program and activities at UMass Boston on Tuesday, March 17, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the Clark Athletic Center gymnasium.

TeamSmile is the nation’s premier advocacy group that partners oral health professionals with collegiate and professional athletic organizations to provide life-changing dental care to underserved children in local communities. Through this experience, children receive free oral health education, screenings, and treatment.

TeamSmile brings dental professionals from the community to provide both preventative and restorative dental care to children in need. The dental programs are designed to create a fun, uplifting experience with various forms of entertainment on hand, such as a DJ, facepainting, team mascots, Colgate activity area, and more. Each student receives a T-shirt and a Colgate bag that includes a toothbrush, paste, and more.

All children can participate in this program entirely for free. TeamSmile does not check for insurance but does require each child to get a consent form signed by a parent/guardian.

The March 17 event at UMass Boston runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Schools can participate in this program as an educational field trip, providing transportation to the university. Parents can also bring their children to participate, arriving between 9 and 11 a.m. and completing consent forms on site.
