Advice for Students
Plagiarism & Academic Honesty
Important Information on Plagiarism and Academic Honesty
UMass Boston has policies on academic honesty and plagiarism. These policies apply to all papers submitted in an EWRAP or WPE portfolio. Violating this policy has serious consequences, which may include suspension or expulsion. Additional evidence may be requested as part of an investigation. Students should retain copies of drafts for the new portfolio essay until after the grades have been received. If you have any questions, please visit the Resources for WPE students page on our website to help you to avoid plagiarism.
For WPE Challenge Essays:
- Only receive assistance with writing your paper from employees of the UMass Boston Writing Proficiency Office—not from friends, relatives, or non-UMB tutors. Tutoring is available through our office; schedule your appointments at this link: https://WPEappointment.as.me/.
For EWRAP Course Papers:
- Course papers written in prior semesters should not be edited. Submit the version you submitted to your instructor.
- If you need support with any writing assignments for a current semester, please contact the UMass Boston Writing Center.
For EWRAP Reflection Letters:
- Our office can assist you if you have any questions regarding the EWRAP reflection letter. You may schedule an appointment with us at this link: https://WPEappointment.as.me/EWRAPHelp
