Biography

Derrais Carter (he/they) is a writer, artist, and Associate Professor of Africana Studies. Carter is the creator of Black Revelry: In Honor of the Sugar Shack (If I Can’t Dance, 2021), an artist book-album built around Ernie Barnes’ painting The Sugar Shack (circa 1971).
