Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

CLA students and faculty receive free admission to the museum (limit of one General Admission ticket per visit). CLA students and faculty must pick up a yearly UMB ISGM sticker for their UMB ID from their CLA departmental office, the Art & Art History Department office, or the Dean's Office. At this time, advanced tickets are required for entry and can be reserved online at gardnermuseum.org/visit. GET TICKETS: Go to the event ticket page on the website.

  1. Apply promo code UMASSCLA. If you wait until checkout to apply the code, the price will not change if the ticket is already in the basket.)
  2. Hit "submit"
  3. Choose your date and time
  4. Add Student (or Adult ticket for faculty/staff) ticket to the cart - only one per ticket order
  5. Log in or create an account
  6. Continue to "check out". You will see the ticket go to $0 in your cart
  7. Please present both your e-tickets and a valid University ID (with the CLA sticker) with you arrive.

Internships: All UMB undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the UMB-BHCC paid internships program at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The internship runs for the full academic year, beginning in September 2026 and ending in Spring 2027. Compensation is $20/hour. The program includes a Museum Careers seminar as well as weekly work in a specific museum department, including:

  • Human Resources
  • Public Programs/ Education
  • Collections
  • Development
  • Music
  • Contemporary Art/Curatorial
  • Registrar 
  • Marketing
  • Membership
  • Exhibitions/ Operations
  • Visitor Services
  • Interpretation 
  • Finance

Information sessions for the upcoming 2026-27 internships will be held on Monday 2/23, 11-12 in Campus Center 2545, and online on Wednesday, 2/25, 1:00-2:00. 

Applications will be available on this site beginning on March 2 and are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 20, 2026.

Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts is among the country’s most important collections of art. Its collections span the globe and human history. All UMass Boston students and faculty have free admission to the museum. MFA tickets are available same-day only and onsite by showing your university ID.

The Institute of Contemporary Art’s University Membership program is thrilled to welcome even more UMass Boston students, faculty, and staff into the museum. Students enrolled in CLA courses for the current academic year may visit the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston free of charge. The modality for doing so, though, has slightly changed per the museum's policy:

  • CLA Student must reserve a free ticket online at the museum's website using the code: UMBICA or call 617-478-3100 for further assistance.
  • CLA Students must also obtain a free sticker to put on their UMB ID and show it at the museum. These can be obtained from their department Admin or the CLA office.

Continued access through January 2027 includes:

  • Free admission for all students, staff, and faculty with a valid UMB ID and sticker.
  • Student rate pricing on ICA performances and films 
  • Free tours (for up to 20 students per tour) with ICA tour guides 
  • 10% off private event rental fee at the ICA
